چکیده

The spectrum of cyclotron radiation is calculated for anisotropically distributed relativistic electrons with a nonrelativistic velocity scattering across the magnetic field. It is shown that if such electrons are responsible for a formation of the ”cyclotron” line in the spectrum of Her X-1, then the value of its magnetic field (3 − 6) · 10 Gs following from this interpretation is in a good agreement with some other observations and theoretical estimations. Observations of a time dependence of the energy of this ”cyclotron” line in the spectra of several X-ray pulsars is explained by a variability of the average longitude energy of the electrons, decreasing with increasing of the liminocity due to radiational braking of the accretion flow.

The cyclotron spectrum of anisotropic ultrarelativistic electrons: interpretation of X-ray pulsar spectra

The spectrum of cyclotron radiation produced by electrons with a strongly anisotropic velocity distribution is calculated taking into account higher harmonics. The motion of the electrons is assumed to be ultrarelativistic along the magnetic field and nonrelativistic across the field. One characteristic feature of the resulting spectrum is that harmonics of various orders are not equally spaced...

Resonant Cyclotron Scattering in Magnetars’ Emission

We present a systematic fit of a model of resonant cyclotron scattering (RCS) to the X-ray data of ten magnetars, including canonical and transient anomalous X-ray pulsars, and soft gamma repeaters. In this scenario, non-thermal magnetar spectra in the soft X-rays (i.e. below ∼ 10 keV) result from resonant cyclotron scattering of the thermal surface emission by hot magnetospheric plasma. We fin...

Modelling magnetars’ high energy emission through Resonant Cyclotron Scattering

We present a systematic fit of a model of resonant cyclotron scattering (RCS) to the X and soft γ-ray data of four magnetars, including anomalous X-ray pulsars, and soft gamma repeaters. In this scenario, non-thermal magnetar spectra in the soft X-rays result from resonant cyclotron scattering of the thermal surface emission by hot magnetospheric plasma. We find that this model can successfully...

Synchrotron Self-Compton Emission from the Crab and Other Pulsars

Results of a simulation of synchrotron-self Compton (SSC) emission from a rotation-powered pulsar are presented. The radiating particles are assumed to be both accelerated primary electrons and a spectrum of electron-positron pairs produced in cascades near the polar cap. They follow trajectories in a slot gap using 3D force-free magnetic field geometry, gaining pitch angles through resonant cy...

A model is proposed for the observed combination of power-law and thermal emission of keV X-rays from rotationally powered pulsars. For γ-ray pulsars with accelerators very many stellar radii above the neutron star surface, 100 MeV curvature γ-rays from e − or e + flowing starward out of such accelerators are converted to e ± pairs on closed field lines all around the star. These pairs strongly...
